Edgefield Recovery Center

Edgefield Recovery Center is a 70‑bed residential addiction and mental health treatment facility nestled on a peaceful 27‑acre historic estate in Cheneyville, Louisiana. Founded in 2009, the center occupies a renovated 1930s‐era manor surrounded by live oaks, pecan trees, azaleas, crepe myrtles, and a scenic bayou creating a calming, reflective environment for healing.

The center’s mission is to deliver compassionate, dignified care through a holistic treatment model that addresses the medical, psychological, psychiatric, and spiritual aspects of addiction and co‑occurring mental health conditions. Edgefield emphasizes respect, empathy, and a change‑oriented mindset in a therapeutic community built on the 12‑Step tradition, cognitive behavioral therapy, and rational emotive behavior therapy.

Upon admission, each client receives a complete medical assessment and psychiatric evaluation conducted by a multidisciplinary team including an Addictionologist, a family nurse practitioner, a psychiatric nurse practitioner, and licensed clinical staff. Medication‑Assisted Treatment (MAT) is offered when appropriate using medications like buprenorphine, naltrexone, or naloxone to manage cravings, withdrawal symptoms, and support sustained recovery.

Edgefield offers individualized and group therapy totaling at least 20+ therapy hours per week during residential treatment, plus psycho‑education, relapse prevention planning, yoga, nutrition sessions, and optional recreational groups like basketball, volleyball, and fishing. Specialized tracks include co‑occurring disorder treatment, gender‑specific groups, relapse prevention, first‑time admissions, and compulsive gambling care.

Family members can participate in therapy sessions and brief visits, and discharge planning ensures continuity of care via referrals to outpatient services, sober living, primary care follow‑up, and ongoing community support groups.
