Acadiana Treatment Center is a residential psychiatric and behavioral health facility dedicated to helping adolescent girls ages 12–17 who are struggling with mental health issues, emotional disturbances, and co-occurring substance use challenges. Located in Sunset, just north of Lafayette, Louisiana, the center offers a peaceful, nature‑rich campus with amenities such as walking trails, a large pond, volleyball and basketball courts, a gym, arts and crafts areas, and a game room.

From the moment clients arrive, they are welcomed into a structured, safe, and therapeutic environment where individual healing is the focus. Each resident undergoes a full assessment mental, educational, psychological, psychiatric, medical, and psychosocial to shape a tailored treatment plan.

A personalized treatment plan typically includes a mix of evidence‑based therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), Motivational Interviewing, Solution‑focused therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and family therapy. The 12‑Step model may also be incorporated if appropriate.

Therapy occurs in individual and group formats and is complemented by recreational and experiential programs. Group sessions may cover coping strategies, medication education, relapse prevention, impulse control, and social skills. At the same time, clients enjoy supervised leisure like sports, arts, and walking trails to reinforce learning in less formal settings.

A unique highlight is on‑campus education: certified teachers deliver accredited academic instruction (e.g. via Edgenuity), so youth can earn credits or work toward a diploma or GED without falling behind in school.

Families are actively included through structured family programming educational workshops and therapy to support healing within the home environment and build strong after‑care plans. Before discharge, each adolescent and family receive a comprehensive plan for continued care, including community resources and follow‑up support.
