Gadsden Regional Medical Center Behavioral Health

Within its Behavioral Health services, the Adult Inpatient Care unit is specifically dedicated to acute psychiatric treatment for adults aged 19 to 64 who are experiencing significant behavioral health needs. The unit comprises two secure inpatient psychiatric units with a total of 34 beds where patients receive a continuum of care focused on stabilization and skill-building. Treatment is delivered by a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, social workers, nurses, occupational therapists, and other specialists, fostering a therapeutic environment where patients work on coping mechanisms and daily functioning.

A Mission-Driven Environment

The program emphasizes individualized treatment planning with a structured therapeutic approach to help patients learn problem-solving, interpersonal, life, and social skills, as well as medication management. Care plans commonly include combinations of individual, group, and family services, and the inpatient team collaborates closely with outpatient behavioral health resources, community mental health centers, private practitioners, and other support networks to facilitate a smooth transition to community-based care after discharge.
